Spotify quietly launched a new version of its desktop app in beta on Wednesday. The new app is such a work in progress that Spotify warns users that not all desktop features are even included yet. 'You might find that some of the things you use in the current Desktop application are missing,' says Spotify. 'We are working on improving the Beta and will be releasing upgrades to it regularly so keep a look out for the upgrade message.
Download the Beta Desktop Version of Spotify. Download the beta from one of the two links below, depending on your flavor of operating system. Windows download (now supports touch for Windows 8 and 10) Once you download and install the beta version of Spotify (henceforth known as 'SpotifyBeta'), it will be installed as a separate app to the standard Spotify, so you'll have two of them on your computer. BTW, the stable, current desktop app also uses CEF. But it seems the beta version has replaced more 'native' or traditional views with web/HTML5 views, thus using CEF in more places. Many add content to the service, some add functionality. You'll find them by clicking on App Finder in the program's sidebar.It's six months on and the number of apps for Spotify is slowly, steadily growing. Cant find spotify app in my applications folder. Making Spotify into an app platform is very clever - a huge step towards making Spotify a truly social music service. All add some kind of value.
