I am very proud to see the latest product my team and I have been working on go live, as Spotify will now be offered by BMW within Connected Music in selected European markets for all vehicles produced in or after July 2019 and running the Operating System 7.0.

BMW enhances your driving experience by allowing you to play Spotify via your iOS device. You can use this in BMW idrive 6 systems. Be aware that you do use your smartphone data while using this function in your BMW. You will also need to have the BMW Connected app and an active subscription to your Spotify app on your phone. If you're an iPhone user and want to replace BMW's native maps with Waze, make and receive WhatsApp messages while driving or stream music from Spotify or Apple Music, CarPlay is an obvious solution. BMW having been the first carmaker to launch fully integrated music streaming solutions with its Online Entertainment product along with Napster (since 2014) and Deezer (since 2015), BMW is once more leading the way in offering seamless digital solutions for all its customers by being the first German OEM to offer a deeply integrated Spotify solution and one of the only carmakers worlwide to offer multiple music streaming providers (Deezer, Napster and Spotify) within its Connected Music product in Operating System 7.0 to cater to all customer needs and habits.
With its seamless integration, the new Spotify app will let you listen to your Discover Weekly or Release Radar right from your BMW, without the need to use your smartphone's Bluetooth connection or Apple CarPlay, all data going through the vehicle's built-in LTE connection. Merging your familiar BMW iDrive and Spotify experience at the same time, this new integration will make you feel comfortable immediately !
Spotify is now deeply integrated into BMW's infotainment system, offering all the functionalities you're already familiar with from Spotify on your smartphone. Whether it's discovering new content throughout the day in 'Home', listening to your kids' favorite playlists saved in 'Your Library', listening once more to that album you've listened to at home in 'Recently Played' or browsing for content you like : it's all right there, just below Radio.
Making use of BMW's Intelligent Personal Assistant, you can now also control Spotify simply by speaking with your BMW in a natural way such as :
'Hey BMW, play Old Town Road by Lil Nas X'
..and if your rear seat passengers actually want you to listen to their latest discovery : just hand them your smartphone using the same Spotify account as in your vehicle and let them control your soundtrack using Spotify Connect. Whether it's changing the playlist or simply skipping that track they don't like, you can enjoy sheer driving pleasure while your friends and family control the soundtrack.
